William Ernest Kingshott

William Ernest Kingshott was a Trooper with D Squadron of the Household Cavalry, 2nd Life Guards. His service number was 3171.

William was born circa 1897 in Woodside, Surrey to James & Jessie Clarinda Kingshott. He was the brother of fellow casualty George Daniel James Kingshott. He was also a brother to Horace Henry Kingshott, who rose to become Chief of Police in Rhodesia.

 

William died on 28th September 1917 at the age of 20 years and is buried at St Omer Cemetery, France.

 

William was my 9th cousin once removed. He was posthumously awarded the 1914/15 Star, the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.
